Worksheet: The Socratic Method: exploring thinking errors that keep us stuck
This worksheet is designed to help you explore and gently challenge unhelpful or distressing thoughts. Using a series of guided questions, the exercise encourages you to slow down and look at a situation from different perspectives, consider the evidence for your thoughts, and develop a more balanced way of understanding what happened.
Socratic questioning is commonly used in cognitive behavioural approaches and can be helpful for recognising thinking patterns, questioning assumptions, and responding to difficult situations with greater awareness and self-compassion. The worksheet also includes reflective journal prompts to support deeper insight and personal reflection.
