More Than Counselling: Introducing LEO Wellbeing Collective
Sometimes, finding support isn't as simple as knowing where to look.
You might be struggling with your mental health and need someone to talk to. You might be trying to understand neurodiversity in yourself, your child or someone you love. Perhaps you're looking for practical tools to manage stress, build confidence or improve your wellbeing. Or maybe you simply want somewhere you can meet people, learn something new and feel part of a community.
This is where LEO Wellbeing Collective CIC comes in.
LEO was created with a simple belief: wellbeing support should be about more than what happens when someone reaches crisis point.
We want to create opportunities for people to access support, develop skills, connect with others and learn more about themselves in an environment that feels welcoming and inclusive.
What is LEO Wellbeing Collective?
LEO Wellbeing Collective is a community-focused organisation bringing together counselling, wellbeing activities, education and opportunities for connection.
Our work is centred around three key ideas:
Support. Learn. Connect.
We provide access to counselling alongside community groups, wellbeing activities, workshops and educational opportunities. Our aim is to create different routes into support, recognising that what one person needs may look very different from what another person needs.
For some people, that might mean one-to-one counselling.
For others, it might be joining a wellbeing group, attending a workshop, learning about neurodiversity or simply finding a welcoming space where they don't feel alone.
Making support more accessible
We know that accessing mental health support can sometimes involve long waits, limited availability or financial barriers.
LEO is working to create additional opportunities for people who may otherwise struggle to access support.
Our counselling service includes different pricing options, helping us provide support to people with different financial circumstances. We also work with placement counsellors, creating opportunities for counsellors in training to gain valuable experience while helping us expand the availability of counselling within the community.
We believe that accessibility isn't just about cost. It's also about creating services that feel approachable, understanding and relevant to the people using them.
Supporting the whole community
Mental health doesn't exist in isolation.
Our wellbeing is influenced by our relationships, families, education, work, finances, experiences and the communities around us.
That's why LEO isn't solely focused on counselling.
We're developing a range of community activities and educational opportunities designed to support wellbeing in different ways.
These include wellbeing groups, mental health and neurodiversity workshops, educational sessions, creative activities, study support and opportunities to come together socially.
We're also developing activities for different age groups and interests, including groups and events for young people, parents and families.
Learning together
We believe that understanding can be empowering.
Our workshops and educational activities are designed to make information about mental health, wellbeing and neurodiversity easier to understand and apply to everyday life.
This might mean learning practical coping strategies, understanding neurodivergence, exploring relationships, developing study skills or learning how to support someone you care about.
You don't have to be experiencing a mental health difficulty to benefit from learning about wellbeing.
Sometimes, having the right information before things become overwhelming can make a real difference.
Creating opportunities for connection
One of the things we want to encourage through LEO is a stronger sense of community.
Life can sometimes feel surprisingly lonely, even when we're surrounded by people.
Our groups and events provide opportunities to meet others with shared interests or experiences, try something new and spend time somewhere that feels welcoming.
From wellbeing activities and walks to creative sessions, educational workshops and tabletop gaming events for young people, we're interested in creating spaces where people can learn, laugh and let everything out.
And not every activity needs to be serious.
Sometimes wellbeing means having a cup of tea and talking.
Sometimes it means learning something useful.
Sometimes it means getting outside.
Sometimes it means playing a game, being creative or simply having somewhere to belong.
What's next for LEO?
LEO is still growing, and that's part of what makes it exciting.
We're developing new groups, workshops and activities based on the needs and interests of our community. Some activities will be regular, while others will be short-term events or pilots that allow us to see what works best.
We'll continue adding new opportunities throughout the year, so there will always be something new to discover.
You can keep up to date with upcoming events, groups, workshops and counselling opportunities through our website.
A collective, not just a service
The word collective is important to us.
We don't want LEO to feel like a service where you simply arrive, receive support and leave.
We want it to feel like something we build with our community.
That means listening to what people need, creating opportunities for people to contribute, sharing knowledge and making space for different experiences.
Whether you're looking for counselling, want to learn more about mental health or neurodiversity, are interested in joining a group, or simply want to see what's happening in your local community, there may be a place for you at LEO.
We're here to support people through challenges, encourage learning and create opportunities for connection.
